Briefly Noted: Updates, Observations and Trends

Each month, we collect miscellaneous happenings, studies, trends or observations you might have missed. This month's briefs focus on market forecasts, interactive TV in the UK, 4G patent holders and more.

TelcoTV 2009 -- The Changing Face of TV

They wouldn't say it this way publicly, but telcos offering TV services are trying to lock in their customers, just like the cable guys. When they talk about "any content, on any screen, anywhere, at any time" they really want all the services to come from them--a sensible goal from their perspective, and it got lots of air time at this year's Telco TV. We also saw networked consumer electronics, innovative program guides, 3D TV, TV Everywhere, plus interactive and on-demand services.

Deja Vu All Over Again

Partners' Connected Health Symposium 2009 -- Moving To the Mainstream

Is your interest in Healthcare focused on the Washington DC politics of healthcare reform? Successful use of connected health technologies? A deeper understanding of health care economics and sociology? Ideas on how to disrupt the current system? All that and more were explored at the 2009 Partners Connected Healthcare Symposium in Boston. The bottom line: real progress is being made, but the transformation will take time.

Upcoming Conferences

We've been trying to build our stamina for this gargantuan show, but walking on treadmills is scant preparation for the miles of show floor that need to be visited at this event.
